Macaw  Clay lick 3 days , 1 full day  SANDOVAL lake.  We will start at 9:30 am from our Hostel or we can pass to pick you up from your hotel, we will have 2 hour by car, the first part will be by the high way and the second part will be in a dirt route until we get to the Tambopata River near the limit to the reserve. Our boat will be waiting for us to take us 25 minutes up the Tambopata river to get to our   lodge “COLLPAS TAMBOPATA INN”  , near to Chuncho Clay Lick, we will have good chances to spot capybaras and many shore birds along the river bank, getting to the lodge we will get a welcome drink and the manager will explain us all we need to know about our lodge and its around.       After lunch we will go for an introductory walk, first in a secondary grow forest and then in a primary forest full of huge trees and lianas and vines, at the same time we will talk about the most important economic activities in this region. Chances to spot Howler Monkeys, wild pigs “peccaries” some Brown capuchin monkeys and squirrel monkeys will be always possible. When is getting dark we will come back to our lodge to get our torch and go to our boat and we will do one of the most exiting activities… it will be the Cayman spotting, we will go to look for White and black Caymans “alligators” along the river bank with a big spot light, we might see more capybaras and we always have good chances to spot and ocelot or a jaguar along the  river bank  

We will wake up around 5:00am, we will get a tea or cofee  to get some energy and we will take our boat up the Tambopata river for 1 hour, Crossing the check point, We will have all the sunrise just for us in the boat, and we will have really good chances to spot capybaras whish is the largest roudent worldwide, tapir and you could even see the most beautiful feline in south America “The Jaguar” many of our clients are witneses with photographics evidences of encounters with these beautiful mammal.  I like to say it, we have a 20 %of probabilities to see one of these guys by the river bank. Getting to our destinations, The Tambopata clay lick, we will take a seat the closest we are aloud and we will get a show at the clay lick, parrots and macaws Green, red, blue  and yellow birds all around us, flying and making loud noises, it will be spectacular this behavior of this birds. We will explain you the reason why every day the whole year around this birds go to the Cliff to eat clay. We will spend from 6:30 am to 11:00 am approx. Our breakfast will be in front of the tambopata clay lick activity. At the end of this activity, in our way down river to the lodge we will make a short stop in the check point to learn more about the small museum that there is here, after this we will continue toward our lodge to get an unforgettable swimming in the stream or may be in the Tambopata River. We will get our lunch and then we can take a break. We will get our lunch, we will have some time off, and then we will go for a walk to know more about the most important things about the medicinal plants, the quinine “good for the malaria”, the cats claw, the dragons blood, and the AYAHUASCA “the master plant for the shamans”   are some of the plants that we will find during this interesting walk. This Afetrnoon  we will climb up the tallest observation canopy Tower, it is 50 meters tall and the view of the Amazon Basin is spectacular from here. We will go back to our lodge and then before dinner or after dinner we will have a short night walk, the sounds at night, the wildlife at night “insects, spider, tarantulas, frogs, armadillos and maybe even snakes will make this activity something difficult to forget.

We will wake up with the sounds of the birds and probably howler monkeys, will get our breakfast and we will walk to the mammal clay lick, we will probably have better chances to find howler monkeys, deer’s, wild pigs,  and some other mammal feeding in this place, at the same time we will explain you the different techniques about the hunting ways that exist  in this area, maybe respond some of the questions that you might have, and if you want we your guide can tell you about local stories about the Tambopata Jungle. Our Lunch at the lodge and then in the afternoon We have brand new kayaks singles and doubles, this is an extra activity that it is included in your program, it does not  cost anything else, and we can go paddling up stream, down the Tambopata River or get into the Malinowski. It is a very nice activity where you will enjoy the landscape and always expecting to spot some wildlife along the river bank .

We will wake up at 5:30am take our boat for 30 minutes and then 2 hours ride back to Puerto Maldonado, we will ge tour breakfast at Tambopata Hostel and continue with the excursión, we will walk five minutes to the dock of the river “Madre de Dios” where our boat and motorist will take us down the river, crossing over the Tambopata River. After an hour in the river we will arrive at the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve. After registering at the control point, we will walk about an hour along a trail to arrive at a canal which connects to Lake Sandoval. Then we will travel via canoe, rowing around the lake and enjoying to the max and getting the most out of our time there. We continue rowing around the edge of this beautiful lake, full of wildlife: incredible insects, small birds and very large exotic, colorful ones. We will observe monkeys in their natural habitat, eating, playing, sleeping, or simply jumping from tree to tree.   There is also a family of giant river otters living in Lake Sandoval. There are very few of them left in Brazil, Bolivia, and Peru and this is one of the few places where we can observe a group of eight of them – almost always looking for fish to eat. According to statistics there is a 60 percent chance of seeing them during a one day visit to the Lake. We also have the chance to observe black caimans which live in the lake. Although night time is the ideal time to observe them when they are most active, we can also find them during the day. Well, now that I’ve told you what the lake is like and what we can see during the day visit, we will continue toward the home of a local family that lives within the reserve. They will greet us with a delicious lunch – a traditional meal prepared wrapped in a leaf from the jungle to seal in flavor, accompanied by a typical drink. Then, after resting, we can return to the Lake to go swimming (there is only one part of the lake where it is permitted to swim and it is very safe to do so). Then we will continue our journey through the lake, enjoying the view of not just the animals that we can see, but also the gorgeous view that we have of the Lake. We will be back in Puerto at around 6pm – we could always leave a little earlier or a little later as needed.
